Mentor Program

The purpose of the FDN Mentor Program is to assist you with completing all of the course requirements and to help you become a certified FDN Practitioner by working directly with members of our FDN mentor team.

You will have access to the entire mentor team as you progress through the course, for flexibility in scheduling and for enabling you to complete the course in the shortest amount of time possible.  Your one-on-one course mentoring will begin with your Personal Results and Recommendations (R&R) Session, but you can utilize the FDN Trainee Facebook Groups, which are monitored by the mentor team, to ask any course-related questions using #mentor.  You will receive instructions as you progress through the course for how and when to schedule your initial R&R mentor session.

In general, Skype is the preferred method for conducting all mentoring sessions.  Skype is free and easy to download.  If your internet connection, bandwidth, or data plan makes using Skype impossible, we will be happy to accommodate you by phone.  Please be sure to add the Mentor for your upcoming session to your contacts in Skype at least 48 hours prior to your meeting.

If you reside outside of the US, we strongly urge you to use Skype.  If you reside outside of the US and you would like to connect by phone, it will be necessary for you to initiate the call to the mentor.

Test Kits

We believe that the best way to learn FDN is to do FDN…on yourself.  Therefore, all FDN Trainees complete the intake forms and two personal test kits, just like any other client.

An account with BioHealth has been set up for you. As a reminder, if you are an unlicensed practitioner, you will need to return the FDN Lab Service Agreement form (which will be sent to you via email) in order to run tests and receive the results. If you haven’t signed and submitted this form, please do so at your earliest convenience.

You will soon receive a shipment of (1) BH205 Adrenal Stress Profile-V and (1) BH101 Metabolic Assessment test kit from BioHealth.  These lab test kits are shipped from BioHealth at the request of Reed Davis.  If you are outside of the US, BioHealth will require shipping be paid and will contact you for payment before the test kits will ship. You may also contact them to make payment by emailing clientservices@biohealthnow.com. No shipping charges apply to US locations. These kits are for personal use only, not for client use.

A few important notes about this process:

Please read the instructions in each kit before completing your test kits.  You’ll have to be very familiar with them for your clients’ sake too.  Please contact support@afdnp.com if you have any questions regarding the proper completion of your test kits.

Send your kits directly to the laboratory at the address listed on the submittal form.  DO NOT send them to the FDN office in Las Vegas, NV.

When sending your test samples to the lab, DO NOT include payment, as your personal BH205 and BH101 are covered by your course registration fee.*  Lab testing fees apply to all your future clients as well as any additional BH205 and BH101 tests you run on yourself. In such cases, payment to cover the regular lab fees needs to be included with the specimens that are shipped to the lab.

*Please note: The pre-paid (no fee due) BH205 and BH101 apply to all trainees who registered on or after August 15, 2015. If you registered prior to that date, your first BH205 and BH101 tests are discounted at 1/2 the regular lab fee and payment needs to be included when you send your two first samples to the lab.

A Note on Timing:

We’re sure you’re excited to start submitting your test kits, but it’s important to time this appropriately! To ensure your test results are as current as possible for your R&R session, we encourage you to consider how quickly you are working through the lessons when deciding when to submit your samples. For most trainees, this will be right around completion of Module 4- Metabolic Assessment Profile (BH101). Remember to read the kit instructions carefully well before collecting your samples to determine what you will need to do to be properly prepared. Menstruating females will need to also consider their cycles, as they should aim to collect samples on day 19-21; Day 1 is the first day of bleeding.

Take Your Samples!

As long as all course criteria are met, you may take your personal samples and prepare to send them off to the lab.

Once we receive your completed Intake Forms and both of your test results from the lab, the FDN administrative office will contact you regarding your Personal Results and Recommendations (R&R) Session.   During this session with an FDN Mentor, you’ll receive copies of your test results, additional files, a complete interpretation of the test results, plus suggestions for your initial DRESS for Health Success® program via phone or Skype consultation.

Additional Information

Kits provided to trainees living in the U.S. or Canada will include a pre-addressed return shipping label and United Parcel Service (UPS) shipper for your convenience. If you are within the U.S. or Canada and your test kit does not contain a return shipping label, please contact BioHealth Client Services at clientservices@biohealthnow.com or 1-800-570-2000 to request one.

If you live in Australia or New Zealand, please read the information here regarding your lab accounts and test kit instructions.

Tips When Submitting BH205 and BH101 Kits Internationally

With the exception of folks from AUS, NZ, and some Asian countries, all trainees will use BioHealth for their Adrenal Stress Panel (BH205) and Metabolic Assessment (BH101). There are a few things to keep in mind for these two tests:

  • Both the BH205 (a thermal test kit) and the BH101 require 2-day return shipping.
  • It’s best to ship test kits on Monday (ideal) or Tuesday (ok). Kit instructions indicate that Wednesday is OK, but our experience is that shipping on Wednesday is risky, as any customs delay could cause your samples not to be received until the following Monday. If properly packaged, samples arriving on the 3rd day can still typically be run with the same level of accuracy.
  • Include ALL thermal material provided with the kit, including the foam insert.
  • BioHealth extends their volume shipping discount to us and our clients (a savings of up to 70% off of standard UPS rates). Return labels must be purchased through BioHealth to take advantage of this. You can use their shipping website (https://ship.biohealthlab.com/), or contacting the lab directly.
  • Include the Import Notice and three copies of the Commercial Invoice and the Shipping Label (all of which are provided by the lab) in the pouch on the outside of the package.
  • To further save on shipping, consider coordinating sample collection so that both the BH205 and BH101 can be shipped in a single return package. The BH representatives are available to help a trainee/client obtain a return shipping label to accommodate this.
  • Contact BH at clientservices@biohealthnow.com or call the lab’s worldwide # at 307-426-5060 if you have any shipping questions.

Lab Accounts, Testing, MDP

Lab Account Information:

You will be automatically registered with BioHealth Laboratories as a new FDN Practitioner in training and trainees receive test kits by UPS. These are provided to you at no charge (shipping charge applies if outside the US).

If you live in Australia or New Zealand, we will contact you via email and request the information needed to get you registered with NutriPath Laboratories.

If you are an unlicensed practitioner, you will be able to run tests on yourself but no other testing may be ordered beyond that until course completion.

As you progress through the FDN course and particularly after you’ve had your Results & Recommendations session with an FDN mentor, you may wish to order supplements or possibly a MRT food sensitivity test (for those in the U.S.).  To that end, we want you to know that the following accounts have been set up for you, either upon your registration into the course, or shortly thereafter.

1. BioHealth Labs/BioMatrix Nutraceuticals You may order supplements through BioMatrix as needed.  You may order by phone at 1-800-570-2000 (US or Canada)/1-307-426-5060 or you may contact them by email at orders@biomatrixone.com.  Upon your first order, BioMatrix will set you up with your own online ordering account.  When contacting them, please let them know you are an FDN Trainee.

2. Ultra Life, Inc. Approximately 2 weeks following your registration you will be automatically set up with an adviser account with Ultra Life.  When you are ready to place your first order you must first complete the set-up of your account, verify your information and receive your account and adviser number.  To do this, please contact Ultra Life at ultralifeinc@sbcglobal.net or call 1-800-323-3842.  When contacting them, please include your address and phone number and let them know you are an FDN trainee and are ready to set up your account to receive your 40% discount on products you purchase, and a 30% commission on your client’s orders.

3. Oxford Biomedical Technologies Approximately 2 weeks following your registration you will be automatically set up with an account with Oxford Biomedical through which you may order MRT food sensitivity kits for use within the US and Canada.  The kits may be ordered and questions answered at cs@nowleap.com or call 1-888-669-5327.  FDN Trainees in most locations in Europe can order test kits via ISO-LAB in Poland. They may be contacted at isolab@leap.pl or + 48 726 400 500.  When contacting either lab, please let them know you are an FDN trainee.

If a blood draw is not possible, the Great Plains Laboratory IgG Food Allergy Test With Candida (fingerstick test) can be ordered through the Medical Director Program after graduation.

4. Bio-Botanical Research, Inc. You may set up a professional account with Bio-Botanical Research, Inc. at any time.  To do so, visit www.biocidin.com and choose the link at the top – Create An Account.  On the application, make sure and indicate you are with FDN.  By default you will be asked to sign their terms of purchase and they will request a copy of your certificate.  If you are not yet a graduate of the FDN course at the time of your account set up, you will simply indicate to them that you are an FDN trainee. They will waive the requirement for your FDN Certificate and will allow you to open an account; however you will need to provide them a copy of your certificate once graduated from the FDN course.

Additional Lab Testing and Medical Director Program Information

To facilitate additional lab testing, we have created the Medical Director Program, which is a full-service program developed for all unlicensed FDN Trainees and Practitioners (currently not working with a licensed practitioner) to order labs on behalf of their clients.

The Medical Director Program provides you with results, reports, client contact templates, case review and technical guidance; we assist you personally on a case-by-case basis. The fee per test is $75.

Full use of the Medical Director Program testing menu is granted after graduation, but core FDN tests suggested by your mentor are available to you as an FDN Trainee, such as additional GI health testing, food sensitivity testing, and any spot‐testing or follow‐up hormone and metabolic testing. If you choose to run any additional labs on yourself, please note applicable lab fees will be incurred. If you order a lab kit through the MDP (BH401H, Genova IP), the $75 MDP fee will also be incurred. FDN LabTrack trainees will only acquire access to additional testing and the Medical Director Program upon graduating.

If a trainee chooses to run a BH401H on him/herself and tests positive for H. pylori, the trainee will be permitted to order the BH418 (H. pylori detection only) for family members who live with him/her.  There is a $40 MDP spot test fee for each BH418 kit ordered.

Note: Any unlicensed FDN Trainee or FDN Practitioner who orders kits from our Medical Director Program must also have a signed Lab Resource Agreement and payment information on file, so be sure this step has been completed.

Post-grad Support

After completing the FDN Course you may receive free ongoing support from BioHealth Laboratories and their Clinical Advisor team for test results interpretations for yourself and that of your clients. The great news is that FDN Founder Reed Davis is one of their Clinical Advisors! Simply call BioHealth at 1-800-570-2000 to schedule a free support session.

In addition, sessions with our Medical Director Program Clinical Advisors serve as excellent continuing education and can be booked at any time for a reasonable fee. These sessions are complimentary with any test ordered via the Medical Director Program.

Results & Recommendations, Practicals, Exams

Personal Results & Recommendations Session (R&R)

The two main purposes of running labs on yourself is to experience the health benefits of FDN and learn how to implement lab testing into your practice.

Please be sure all of your completed intake forms and questionnaires have been submitted to support@afdnp.com prior to scheduling your R&R, as we cannot proceed without them.

Once we have all of the necessary items mentioned above, you will be sent a Personal Results & Recommendations email with information regarding how to book in for this session with one of the course mentors. The R&R session will last 2 hours.

Your R&R session will include a nutritional interpretation of the lab test results - the BioHealth 205 Functional Adrenal Stress Profile and 101 Metabolic Assessment Profile, plus a personalized DRESS for Health Success® program and initial 90-day therapeutic supplement protocol for you to follow. You are not required to purchase anything additional or order any further lab testing to complete the FDN Course; however, it is highly recommended that you do so, as the experience of running labs on yourself and personally going through the FDN process improve the learning experience and your skills as a practitioner. You are also likely to experience additional health benefits. *See the Additional Lab Testing and Medical Director Program section for additional details.

Practical #1

This is a role-playing exercise, with the course mentor playing the client and you playing the FDN Practitioner. This is an opportunity for you to practice a Results & Recommendations consultation in a safe environment and prepare you for R&R sessions with your real clients.

This session will last 2 hours. You will cover results for the BioHealth 205 Functional Adrenal Stress Profile and 101 Metabolic Assessment Profile, along with a DRESS protocol.

You can access the instructions and files for Practical #1 on the FDN Course website.

The FDN mentor will give you immediate feedback and coaching that you will find very helpful.

Practical #2

This session is a continuation of Practical #1. Upon your suggestion, your mock client ran the Genova Intestinal Permeability Assessment, BH401H Pathogen Stool test, and Oxford Biomedical Mediator Release Test for food sensitivities. This client is excited to go over the results and get your DRESS protocol recommendations.

You can access the instructions and files for Practical #2 on the FDN Course website. When ready for this session, book a session with one of the course mentors.

As before, your FDN mentor will give you immediate feedback and coaching that you will find beneficial.

This session will last 1 hour.

Two Client Review Sessions (One Session for LabTrack)

Working through results from (5) labs is the ideal the way to work as an FDN Practitioner, and while in training, it is one of the best ways to sharpen your skills!

In these relaxed and ungraded sessions, you will discuss the details of (2) practice cases with one of the mentors from the team. This mentor will provide feedback on your interpretation of these lab results and provide input on a DRESS protocol, along with practical tips and case management insights during these sessions.

These two sessions are done in a “practitioner-to-practitioner conversation” style, so there will be no role-playing required.

Detailed instructions for these client reviews can be found in the FDN Course.

Client Review Sessions will take between 30-60 minutes each. These two sessions must be scheduled back-to-back in one two-part session with your mentor.

Final Examination

Written Final Exam

The Written Final Exam consists of 60+ essay-style questions and will thoroughly challenge your understanding of all aspects of FDN and your ability to articulate this knowledge in writing. It is an open-book and untimed test. You will be able to download the Written Final Exam after completing the online Midterm Exam. It is recommended that you download the exam and start on it as soon as possible. Answer the questions as you study the material and save the document along the way. At the end of the course, you will be asked to submit your completed Written Final Exam after you have completed all practical exercises listed above.

**All answers must be original work, in your own words.  Cheating is unacceptable, and failure to comply with this policy will risk certification.**

Practical Final Exam

Upon achieving a passing grade (B or better) on the Written Final Exam, you are eligible to complete the Practical Final Exam.

You can access the instructions and files for this exam on the FDN Course website.

This is a role-playing exercise. The Examiner will play the client and you will play the FDN Practitioner.

It is a comprehensive assignment involving a Results and Recommendation Session of two BH205 and two BH101 tests (first test and a follow-up for each), as well as a first-time Genova Intestinal Permeability Assessment and BH401H test. You will present the results along with your DRESS for Health Success® Program.

This session will last 1 ½ to 2 hours.

Note: In the event of a non-passing grade on either the Written or Practical Final Exam, a $50 retake fee is required to take either exam again for your certification.

Australia/New Zealand Exceptions

NutriPath and BioHealth Labs:

If you live in Australia or New Zealand, an account will be set up for you with our local Australian lab partner, NutriPath Labs.  You will receive lab test kits for your personal use, which are shipped from NutriPath at the request of Reed Davis, and the lab fees will be covered as part of your course registration. These kits are for personal use only, not for client use. The experience of running the lab tests on yourself and working on your own health is the best way to learn how to practice FDN. Specific details related to the test kits may be found within the course material so please be sure you’ve read that prior to submitting your two lab tests.

You will receive a separate email requesting confirmation of your address and your date of birth prior to your test kits being ordered from NutriPath. Instead of the Biohealth kits BH 205 and BH 101 (for US trainees), you will receive a NutriPath Adrenal Stress Profile and NutriPath Intestinal Permeability test kit for self-use.  Please note if you are diabetic or severely pre-diabetic, you will not be able to run the NutriPath Intestinal Permeability lab, and this information will be collected in the separate email.

The BioHealth 101 Metabolic Assessment Profile is available to trainees to order through the Medical Director Program; however, please be aware that this test kit requires two-day return shipping, so only specific locations (Melbourne, Sydney) will fall within these shipping parameters.  If you wish to see if your location enables you to run the BH 101 Metabolic Assessment Profile and get set up with a BioHealth account, please contact orders@afdnp.com.

If you are an unlicensed practitioner, you will be able to run any of the basic tests we teach in the course on yourself while you are a trainee (excepting FDN LabTrack trainees). You will then be able to access further testing for yourself and your clients upon graduation.

The Medical Director Program provides you with results, reports, client contact templates, case review, and technical guidance; we assist you personally on a case-by-case basis.

Note: FDN LabTrack trainees will only acquire access to the Medical Director Program upon graduating.

Watch the Medical Director Program Webinar for a more in-depth view of how the MDP works.

Note: Any unlicensed FDN Trainee or FDN Practitioner who orders kits from our Medical Director Program must also have a signed Lab Resource Agreement and payment information on file, so be sure this step has been completed.

Post-grad Support

After completing the FDN Course, you may receive free ongoing support from BioHealth Laboratories and their Clinical Advisor team for test results interpretations for yourself and that of your clients. The great news is that FDN Founder Reed Davis is one of their Clinical Advisors! Simply call BioHealth at 1-800-570-2000 to schedule a free support session.

Results and Recommendations Session (R&R)

The two main purposes of running labs on yourself is to experience the health benefits of FDN and learn how to implement lab testing into your practice.

Please be sure all of your completed intake forms and questionnaires have been submitted to support@afdnp.com, as we cannot proceed without them.

Once we have all of the necessary items mentioned above, you will be sent a Personal Results & Recommendations email with information regarding how to book in for this session with one of the course mentors. The R&R session will last 2 hours.

Your R&R session will include a nutritional interpretation of the lab test results- the NutriPath FDN Functional Adrenal Stress Profile and NutriPath Intestinal Permeability, plus a personalized DRESS for Health Success® program and initial 90-day therapeutic supplement protocol for you to follow. You will receive product ordering information and additional lab testing is frequently suggested. *See the Additional Lab Testing and Medical Director Program Information above for additional details.

BioHealth should not be reaching out to you about labs but just in case they do, make sure you remind them that you are in Australia or New Zealand and that you will be running different labs. Please do NOT pay shipping charges to have BioHealth kits sent to you.

If you choose to run the additional suggested labs on yourself, you will receive an additional consult with an FDN clinical advisor to discuss your test results and to update your DRESS for Health Success® protocol. (Note: FDN LabTrack trainees will only have access to further lab testing upon graduation).

Policies & Fees

Cancellation Policy

While it’s understood that emergencies do happen, the FDN mentors have busy schedules and would appreciate your cooperation if you are unable to keep an appointment. We require 48 hours’ notice for all cancellations or rescheduling of mentoring sessions. Failure to provide this notice will result in a $40 cancellation fee which must be paid prior to graduation. This fee may also be assessed if you arrived to the session unprepared to the point that the mentor determines that rescheduling is necessary within the first several minutes of the session.

Phone calls, voicemail messages or email to support@afdnp.com are all accepted methods of advance cancellation.

Course Training Completion Policy

The course completion time frame is 1 year from your date of registration so there is plenty of time to complete the course work. The course is self-paced within this 1-year time frame, so move at whatever pace works with your schedule. A reasonable time frame to complete the FDN Course is about 16-20 weeks (at a pace of 5-8 hours per week).

Course Training Completion Policy: FDN LabTrack

The course completion time frame is 1 year from the course start date (if you registered before 1/15/18), or 1 year from your registration date (if you registered after 1/15/18), so there is plenty of time to complete the course work.  Content will be released weekly over a period of 12 weeks, so you should have plenty of time to digest the material and work at whatever pace is comfortable for you.

Retake Fee

In the event of a non-passing grade on either the Written or Practical Final Exam, a $50 retake fee is required to take either exam again for your certification.
